School Counselor

Hello!  My name is...

Mr. Jarriel J. Jacobs

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s):

Greetings! I hope your child’s school year is off to a great start! I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Jarriel J. Jacobs and I am your child’s School Counselor here at Washington Street Elementary. I have a B.S. Degree in Business Management and a M.Ed Degree in Counselor Education from South Carolina State University.  This is my fifth year as a school counselor and it is an honor and a privilege to be here and to work with you and your child!

Throughout the year, I will be visiting your child’s classroom, introducing myself, and sharing with them what I can do for them as their School Counselor. I will be providing classroom guidance lessons that will focus on various life skills needed to succeed in school and life. Some of these subjects include, but are not limited to: Making/Keeping Friends, Study Skills, Following Rules, School Awareness, Teamwork, Conflict Resolution, Sharing, Decision Making, Peer Relation, Bullying and much more.  This year our focus will be our new PATHS (Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies) curriculum.

I am available for individual, small group and educational counseling. Parents and teachers can make referrals to me if they feel there is a need. Students may also self- refer. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at (843) 857-3371 and I will be happy to talk with you. I look forward to working with your child!

Looking Forward,
